STORE LAMBS – OPENING SALE

On Thursday 4^th September Harrison & Hetherington held the fortnightly sale of store lambs in Lazonby Market. A total of 2000 were offered for sale with a total average of £100.82 being achieved. Topping the sale went to first lambs from Mike and Marie Faulder, Euan Close selling a pen of Beltex lambs to £156 for 10. This run of 24 went on to average £145.5. Messrs Lee, Lintley sold 13 to £132 & sold 40 to average £126.60, Mules once again met a blistering trade with half the sale being mules. Mr Phillip Dawson, The Lodge sold 29 to £110. Pairs frequently sold over the £100 mark despite the recent drop in Prime Trade. J J Hope, Branthwaite sold 43 to £102 & James Raine, Randelholmesold 54 to £98. Highlight went to Mr Steven Brown, Bowhill who sold 100 to sell for £92.50. Despite recent claims Lazonby remains the market to sell mules sheep. Suffolks once again met a delightful trade topping at £119 for Mr Watson, Ghyll House.
