PRIME BULLS: Yet another massive entry of 123 prime bulls forward at Borderways weekly sale of primestock. Trade did ease in line with mid to end of last weeks national slip fortnightly. This was nothing to do with the increased numbers just a slight realignment in trade for the foreseeable. Topping the days sale was an 873kg Limousin cross from Messrs Carlyle, Bleaberry Rigg, Longtown at £3841.20 next best was a 856kg Limousin from Messrs Gammie, Drumforber, Aberdeenshire at £3629.44. Devenport Farms, Hexham sold 8332kgs to £3511.04. Best British Blue was 788kgs for Smallburn Farms, Plewlands Farm, Elgin at £3482.96. Simmentals sold to £3253.84 for 914kgs from Messrs Bell, Roxburgh Mill, Kelso. Top overall pence per kilo came from Smallburn Farms with their 788kg British Blue at 442p. the two next best prices came from Messrs Gammie, Drumforber and Messrs Carlyle, Bleaberry Rigg both selling to 440ppk. Dairy bulls sold to a top of £2317.5 for a 927kg British Friesian from Messrs Bell, Torpenhow Farm, Wigton and to £2163.20 for 676kgs from Messrs Graham, Manor House, Wigton. Fleckviehs to £2150.4 for 640kgs from Messrs Henderson, East Bowhill, Annan. Top pence per Kilo of 344p went also to The Hendersons for a 597kg Fleckvieh. Montbeliardes to 328p for 613kgs from Seymour Farms, Wigton and Holstein Friesians to 326p for 569kgs from Messrs Wilson, South View, Penrith.

PRIME CATTLE: Prime steer and heifer numbers outstanding once again in Borderway as 114 were forward and sold to a good firm trade throughout seein little difference to that of last week. Top overall went to a British Blue cross heifer from Messrs Dent, Elm House, Appleby at £3098.24 for 824kgs. Messrs Parker, Auchenairney Farm. Ayrshire sold next best at £2994.90 for 745kgs Limousin cross. Messrs Sotry, Newbiggin Farm, Carlisle sold a 700kg Limousin cross to £2884. Best pence per kilo went to Messrs Nelson, Rosgill Head, Penrith with a 626kg Limousin cross achieving 4236pph. Messrs Blake, Halfway Well, Penrith sold next best at 420ppk for 646kgs.

Steers sold to a days top of £3059 for 805kgs Limousin cross from Messrs Story, Newbiggin Farm. Messrs Dixon, Lesson Hall, Wigton sold next best at £3048.80 for 824kgs and Messrs Miller, Arkleby Hall, Wigton sold 8636kgs to £3043.04. top pence per kilo steers were two at 418ppk firstly for a 619kg Limousin cross from Messrs Rome, Niven Hill, Gretna and secondly by Messrs Graham, Miller Hill, Brampton with a 672kg Limousin cross. A special mention must go to the trade of all the native cattle forward today as there is an overwhelming amount of customers for this type of cattle in Borderway on a weekly basis.
