On Wednesday the 10th September Harrison and Hetherington had their special sale of strong store cattle which saw an entry of 633 this week. Trade took a massive positive leap with every class simply a joy to sell. The leading price of the day and claiming the special price for the highest priced pen of 4 or more cattle, was Ken and Ray Irving, Newlands Row, Wigton, who sold a pen of 4 Limousin x Friesian bullocks for a sale leading £2680. Heifers sold to a top of £2440 again for a Limousin x Friesian from the same good home. Natives topped at £2520 again from the Irving's. Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas led the consignments at £2433 for 10 great Charolais Bullocks with younger cattle to £2560 for a 15m Limousin x bullock from Messrs Hall, Horsley Hill, Hawick.
