Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their fortnightly Sale of cast and OTM cattle when 45 cattle were forward.

A market record price of 417.5pence per kilo and £3248.15 was achieved for a 778kg Pure British Blue cow from Messrs Hayton, Asby Grange, Great Asby.

Messrs Sedgley, Low Bank House, Barbon sold an eight year old Limousin cross cow to make £2944.50 (780kg at 377.5p/kg).

Messrs Buckle, Bleathgill, Barras sold a Limousin cross cow weighing 724kg to make 398.5p totalling £2885.14.

Messrs Deighton, Abbey Park, Bleatarn sold a seven year old cow to make £2828.91 (798kg at 354.5p/kg), with this home also selling Limousin cross cows to £2526.03 (762kg at 331.5p/kg).

Messrs Harker, Grayrigg Hall, Kendal sold a nine and a half year old pure Limousin cow weighing 748kg to make £2539.46 (748kg at 339.5p/kg) with this home also selling a ten year old pure Limousin cow to make £2501.07 (726kg at 344.5p/kg).

Messrs Ousby, Bents Farm, Newbiggin on Lune sold a Limousin cross cow weighing 657kg to make 374.5p/kg (£2460.47).

Messrs Raine and Davidson, Thorney Gale sold a British Blue cross cow weighing 669kg and making 368.5p (£2465.27).

Fleckvieh steers sold to £2407.78 (703kg 342.5p) from Messrs Beck, Town Foot, Longdale with another Fleckvied steer weighing 652kg selling for 341.5p/kg (£2226.58) also from this home.

Friesian steers sold to £2177.37 and 299.5p/kg from Messrs Beck, Town Foot with this home also selling 660kg Frisian steers to 296.5p/kg (£1956.19)

Messrs Bousfield, Blades Field sold a nine year old Holstein Frisian cow to make £1685.63. (217.5p/kg)

16 Limousin cows forward sold to average £2175.50 (316.8p/kg) a fantastic overall sale average of £2030.62 (up £634.92 on the year) and 301.57p/kg (up 96p/kg on the year) was achieved for 45 cows sold.
