6200gns top for Greengrass Dispersal

A packed ringside and strong online following gathered for the much-anticipated Greengrass Pedigree Holstein Dispersal, with cattle meeting a buoyant trade throughout. The sale peaked at 6200gns for the outstanding red and white in-calf heifer Greengrass Apex Jodie Red.

A daughter of Peak Apex and backed by ten generations of VG and EX dams from the renowned Jodie family from Fradon, this eye-catching heifer carried a service to Bomaz Rimrock Red. She was the subject of spirited bidding before being secured by Jack Wilson of the Lightning Herd, a young breeder with a sharp eye for quality genetics.

Two lots shared the next highest price of 5000gns. First to reach that figure was the stylish Greengrass Shanrock Lambda June, a June-born daughter of Delta-Lambda and a maternal descendant of none other than Loyalyn Goldwyn June EX97-7E – the legendary show cow who claimed First Production Cow at the Royal Winter Fair at 16 years old. This promising young calf was sold in a half-share to Holehouse Farms and Boclair Holsteins.

Also selling for 5000gns was the third-lactation beauty Greengrass Integral Snakebite Red EX91, a powerful Blondin Integral daughter hailing from the deep Supra family. Her 4th dam is a full sister to the World Dairy Expo Champion, Blondin Redman Seisme EX97, adding further depth to an already exceptional pedigree. She was secured by Messrs Bailey, Scarborough, York.
