Capone is the Boss at Borderway for Holehouse Farms

The September Border & Lakeland Club Show & Sale offered outstanding pedigrees with quality cows and heifers to match. Trade topped at 4,300gns with Holstein heifers averaging £3249 with only ten heifers selling for less than £3000. 

The pre-sale show was sponsored by Finance For Farms and was judged by Ewan Kennedy from Perryston Farm in Ayrshire.  He selected Wormanby Jakers Mahala from the Hodgson family’s Wormanby Farms Ltd as the pre-sale champion. This substitute lot sired by Midas-Touch Jakers A2A2 is out of a Discjockey daughter who was sold as a fresh calved heifer and backed by 9 generations of VG and EX dams. She sold for 4100gns to the Mitchell family from Grougar Mains, Kilmarnock.

Wormanby also took reserve champion with their first placed cow, Wormanby Tropic Barbie, calved in August with her third calf she is backed by 10 generations of VG and EX dams. She sold for 2700gns to Messrs McDowell from Market Drayton. Wormanby sold 2 cows and 8 heifers to average £3249.

Sale leader at 4300gns was Holehouse Capone Columbine from Holehouse Farms, calved at the end of July this Regan-Danof Capone daughter is out of a Rager sired dam. Calved at the end of July she sold to Ling Dairies, Southwaite, Carlisle. Ling Dairies also paid 4200gns, the second top price for  Holehouse Say Nancy Red, a Vox Say Red daughter out of a VG88 classified dam. A third heifer from Holehouse also sold to Ling Dairies for 4000gns, this was for a Berryridge SSI Roadster daughter out of a Luster P sired dam.
The Logan family’s Holehouse herd had 9 super heifers sell to average £3605.
