“LATTER FAIR” SALE OF MULE GIMMER LAMBS
THURSDAY, 18th SEPTEMBER 2025
On Thursday 18th September, Harrison & Hetherington conducted the sale of mule gimmer lambs in Borderway’ s “Latter Fair” Sale. A total of 3500 ewe lambs went under the hammer to average £158. Top end lambs not an increase on the year however smaller lambs met slight resistance on the previous year. Before the sale this years show took place with this years judges Mr Richard Fox & Mr Alan Collett under taking the duties. After looking over the pens it was decided that the Dodd & Co Perpetual Trophy & Champion rosette to be given to first time winners Mathew & Gavin Foster, Coombe Cragg which later sold to £290 to Julie Brough. This run of 184 went to average £171.68. Reserve Champion pen went to John & Mandy Smith-Jackson, Lipwood whose pen wen on to sell for £310. This run of 96 averaged £214.04. The annual consignment from Harry & Geoff Gass, Nunscleugh sold 501 to average £160.05. The highlights continued from Messrs Ridley, Woodhall who sold 352 to average £183.02. Ken & Chloe James continued in style selling 327 to average £157.45. Knarsdale Estates sold a sweet run of lambs from Roachburn to average £160.68.
A new class was created this year with the introduction of 20s, this years winner went to Richard Ridley, Woodhall who sold to £220. The same home also sold to £212 for his third prize pen & Matthew Foster sold to £198 for his second.
This year James Frame, Little Gala topped the continental section selling his Beltex to £210. Next best came from the same home selling Texels this time to £205/
