Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 24th September Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves.  Top price today was £960 achieved by Mr Gillespie, High Ploughlands for a 3 month old Charolais bull calf.  Angus calves saw a top of £920 from C Horsley Ltd, Wigton and £870 was achieved twice by J B Capstick, Kirkby Stephen for Limousin calves.  Shorthorns were up to £690 from Messrs Heron & Sons, Eastfield Farm.  Montbeliardes calves saw highs of £645 from Messrs Farish, East Farm, Wigton and Blues topped at £760 from Messrs Foster, Coombe Cragg.  Black and Whites were off the clock at £600 for a  4 month old from Messrs Vance, Balnab.

Heifers reached peaks of £850 twice, firstly for a Charolais from Messrs Airey, New Grange and  a Limousin from George Ireland Livestock.  Angus heifers reached £750 again from Messrs Airey, New Grange.  Blue heifers sold to £755 for a pair from Messrs Martin, Tempest Tower.
