Kirkby Stephen Store Lamb Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd Kirkby Stephen held their fortnightly sale of store and gimmer lambs when a catalogued entry of 2,000 were on offer. 

Topping the sale at £218 was the first prize pen of ten Beltex cross store lamb from Messrs Beveridge, Low West House Farm, Bishop Auckland, this home also topped the gimmer lambs with a Pair of Beltex at £200 both selling to the judge Mr Steven Kirby, Northallerton. This home sold a further two pens at £192 with the second prize gimmer lambs making £190. The consignment of 335 lambs from this home sold to average a whopping £168.53.

Messrs Armstrong, Crossfell House sold a pair of Beltex gimmer lambs to make £196.

Messrs Millar, Crookholm Farm, Canonbie sold the send prize pen of five gimmer lambs to make £196 selling to Messrs Tattersall, York.

17 pens and 96 lambs sold between £180 and £218

60 pens and 433 lambs sold between £130 and £182.

552 Beltex cross lambs sold to average a whopping £163.72 which is up £39.65 on the year, with an overall sale average for all breeds of £130.60 being achieved which is up £18.54!
