North Country Cheviot Hill Females

At Lockerbie on Tuesday 23^rd September, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, held the annual sale of North Country Cheviot Hill females. A phenomenal trade was achieved across the board, with averages up on all sections.

Draft ewes sold similar on the year with only a rise of £0.34, topping at £345 for a pen of 20 from WD Allen, Humbleheugh Farm, also from this home the next best at £290.

Gimmers averaged £234.78 (up £15.43 on the year) and sold to a top of £400 for a pair of gimmers from Messrs Watson, Saltehouse Farm. The next best came from Messrs Tweedie & Co, Buchtrig with a pen of 39 selling for £345.

Ewe lambs topped at £260 for a pen from WD Allen, Humbleheugh Farm, who also sold another pen to £210. Ewe lambs sold better on the year with an average of £149.47 (up £26.92 on the year)
