On Wednesday 24th September the highly anticipated “Alston Moor” Sale of North of England mule lambs took place in Lazonby Market. The living legend that is Lazonby Alston Moor sale once again drew buyers from throughout the land! With its reputation as the original, the best and being the home of the mule, this ensured that competition from a large ringside of buyers was witnessed despite a challenging farming year in the south. This resulted in another sale to be proud of with the running sheep, despite being smaller, selling at pleasing rates in the main -£120-140 and an incredible 71 pens of sheep selling from £200-£420 , demonstrating the variety of sheep and orders present at this all encompassing event
The pre sale show took place on Tuesday night, this years judges Mr Peter Smith, Towcester & Mr Chris Hewerdine, Melton Mowbray who after looking over the biggest show of lambs seen in lazonby for many years awarded the Bill Armstrong memorial throphy to F&M, Moore, Highside which later went to sell for £400.
The reserve champion pen from local breeder Mr Edwin Clarke, Howgill castle later sold for £350.
The Champion pen of 20 & winning the Peter Kidd Memorial throphy was awarded to PL&J, Dawson, The Lodge which later sold for £200.
The next sale is Thursday 2nd October - Show & Sale of Store Lambs also the full dispersal of Lazonby Estates Breeding & Store Sheep
