On Thursday 2^nd October Harrison & Hetherington held their fortnightly sale of store lambs in Lazonby Market which included the entire dispersal of Lazonby Estates Sheep flock. The day began with the entire flock dispersal of Lazonby Estates a total of 2013 head of stock was sold with buyers from Cornwall to Aberdeen in attendance. The sale topped at £255 for a pen of pure park ewes. Texel cross Cheviot sheep topped at £165 for a pen of 10 & pure cheviots sold to £185 for a pen of 11. Across the sale a total average of £133 was achieved with the run also including 500 store lambs. Harrison and Hetherington would like to place a big thank you to Lazonby Estates for allowing us to conduct the sale. A total of 2180 lambs then followed on as store lambs once again took hold in Lazonby. Before the sale the show took place with judge Ben Haigh awarding the Richard Hodgson cup to Rore Makepeace, Blackhouse which later sold to £148 for his pen of Continental cross lambs. Hill lambs topped at £121.5 for 14 cheviots from R & J Watson, Croglin Low Hall. Mules topped at £120 for a pen of 10 from Andrew Thompson, East Unthank & Suffolks topped at £118 from AR & JA Kidd, The Keld. A great day was had in the Eden Valleys own livestock market with more needed to satisfy demand.
