PRIME BULLS: A great entry of 95 Prime bulls forward seeing biggest best quality bulls a flyer, ordinary well fleshed bulls the same trade and best quality lighter bulls would see a marginal ease on the week.  Topping the trade overall was a Lanarkshire based Limousin from Messrs Struthers, Collielaw weighing 847kgs and selling to £3608.22 to A & D Meats.  Best British Blue cross came from Messrs Twentyman, Osbourne Farm, Wigton with 757kgs achieving £3345.94 to Bowland Foods, Preston.  Messrs Watson, Saunders Close, Brampton sold a 787kg Limousin to £3289.66, 739kg Charolais crosses from Messrs Muir, Cleughbrae, Dumfries sold to £2719.52.  Top overall pence per kilo came from Osbourne Farm, Wigton with a 757kg British Blue Cross at 442ppk.

Black and whites were very good to sell overall and sold to a top of £2433.10 for an 839kg Holstein Friesian from Messrs Johnstone Rae, Boghead, Dumfries.  Messrs Robinson, Burtholme, Brampton sold 821kgs to £2315.22 and a days top pence per kilo of 336p for a 525 Montbeliarde from Seymour Farms, Wigton and 332ppk for a 615kg Holstein Friesian from Messrs Dickinson, High House, Wigton.

PRIME CATTLE: Yet another fantastic entry of 75 Prime steers and heifers forward at the number one Prime cattle livestock marketing centre in the North of England.  Trade very much on a par to that of previous weeks with the exception of the very best quality perhaps sharper on the week. 

The top overall went to an 855kg Limousin from vendors Messrs Dixon, Lesson, Hall, Wigton achieving £3351.60, the same vendors also sold next best with 812kgs selling to £3329.20.  First time vendors Messrs Smith, South Flanders, Stirling had a fantastic day out with their three steers averaging 850kg, £3138.79 selling to a top of £3268.86.  D A Harrison, Hill House, Wigton sold best Charolais cross to £3060.90 and British Blues to £3009.60 for 720kgs from Messrs Bowe, Bothel Parks, Wigton.  Top pence per kilo of 418p went also to Bothel Parks for this same animal.  Heifers sold to £3115.84 for an outstanding 749kg British Blue cross from Messrs Miller, West Farm, Aspatria.  D A Harrison, Hill House Wigton sold next best a 755kg Charolais cross to £2921.85.  Top Limousin cross came from Messrs Blake, Halfway Well, Penrith with 674kgs equating to £2803.80 and purchased by Pioneer Foods, Carlisle.  Top overall pence per kilo of 416p was achieved jointly, firstly by Messrs Miller, West Farm, and secondly by Messrs Blake, Halfway Well, both for the aforementioned heifers.
