Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 8th October Ring 4 conducted its weekly sale of weaned cattle and bulls in Borderway with this week having a Special section for suckler bulls.  A total of 102 went on to average £1616.27.  Topping the sale went to a pure Limousin from AJ & RE Marston, Easegill Head selling his 16 month old bull to £2650.  The Dale Sunley family brought a superb run of 28 suckler bred 8-9 month Charolais and Limousin bulls to average £1543 topping at £1860.  Messrs Maw, Wintershields came with 12 15/16 month old Limousin bulls to average £2102.  Messrs Elliot, Hallburn brought Blue and Limousin bulls 12-13 months averaging £1878.  Messrs Wigham, Hargill House brought 7 Limousin year old bulls to average £1897.

Stirks met a great trade once again with another strong show forward.  Messrs Threlkeld, Baileytown brought 20, 8 month old British Blue stirks to average £1137.50.  Steers topped at £1880 for a single Charolais from Messrs Johnston, Kimmeter Farm.  Heifers topped at £2130 for a single Limousin heifer from Messrs Maw, Wintershields.  Messrs Graves, Home Farm brought 10 Aberdeen Angus heifers to average £1164.  Many more are needed to satisfy demand.
