On Monday 13^th October the weekly store lamb and breeding sale took place in Borderway.  A smaller show of breeders were forward with top price going to Messrs Nichol, Dyfe Farm for a strong pen of Suffolk cross shearlings.  A total of 1282 store lambs went on to average £99.70.  Topping the sale went to Mr Ioan Jones selling a heavy Hampshire tup lamb to £146.  Beltex lambs topped at £144 from Messrs Brunton, Greenbank.  Texel lambs topped at £140 from Messrs Ireland, Drigg and Messrs Elliot, Alston.  Messrs Edmondson, Cockermouth topped the Suffolks selling a pen to £123.  Mule lambs were in great demand with top price going to first time vendor Messrs Bell, Woodhall, Hexham attending with 55 selling for £105.  A larger inclusion of Blackfaced lambs were present today with Messrs Dalgleish and Waugh, The Crew selling 66 to sell for £75 per head.  A large ringside of byers were forward ensuring lambs remained a strong trade.  Plenty of long term lambs selling to £90-£100.
