On Wednesday 15th October Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with a larger entry of 302 forward. A mixed show resulted in averages up across the board. Milk calves again sold to a premium. Trade topped at £900 for a tremendous Limousin bull calf from DJ Livingstone, Kirtlevale, they also sold one to £870. CW Gott, Burton House sold a 2 month blue to £875. Blencogo House, Wigton had Blues to £860. Messrs Reeds, Mosside, Wigton had Blues to £855. Messrs Naylor, Hill Green sold Limousin bulls to £840, £830 (x2) and £810. AV Elwen, Netherfield had Blues to the same price. C Horsley Ltd, Wigton had three, 2 month Angus bulls to £825. Messrs Gillespie, High Ploughlands sold two Charolais bulls to £810. The same home also topped the heifers to £845. Blencogo House, Wigton sold a pair of Angus heifers to £810. N & A Bainbridge, Laneside sold a great Limousin heifer to £760. Low Wood Dairy, Warwick Bridge sold a 1 month Blue heifer to £750. PJN & SM Morris, Greengatehouse sold a Limousin heifer to £735. Messrs Reed, Mosside sold Blues to £735, £735, £730, £710. R Pigg, Gaitsgill had Blues to £710.
Black and White sold £480 (x3), firstly from Ling Dairies, Southwaite and then Wendy Stamper, Coldcoates, Preston. They also sold to £350. GJ & C Vance, Balnab, Whithorn sold 6 to £345.
