Kirkby Stephen SSBA 'C' District Ram Sales - Day 1

Harrison & Hetherington held the opening day of the three day annual Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association ‘C’ District ram sale with a catalogued entry of 121 aged and ram lambs were on offer.

The opening day of three day SSBA ram sales topped at £4000 for the overall champion aged ram from Messrs Allinson, West Briscoe, Barnard Castle which was purchased by Messrs Hodgson, Glen Coyne, Glenridding.

Messrs Harker, Punchard Farm, Arkengarthdale sold a five shear ram to £2400 purchased by JS Calvert, CJ&AJ Owen & BE Hall.

Messrs Nelson, Lainger House, Skipton sold a three shear ram also to £2400 which was bought by Messrs Ivinson & Sons, Hole House, Penrith, with this home also selling to £2300 Messrs Pye, Duckenshaw Farm, Lancaster.

Messrs Wearmouth, Parkside, Barnard Castle sold a two shear to £2000 selling to Messrs Heron, Eastfield Farm, Warcop.

The champion ram lamb sold to £2000 from Burncroft Farm, Barnard Castle which was purchased by Messrs Slack, Stoneriggs Farm, Hilton.=

Burncroft Farm also sold another two ram lambs for £1600 selling to Messrs Crisp, Avenue View, Austwick and to Messrs Wilkinson, Shield Hurst, Bishop Auckland.

Messrs Scott, Force Garth, Barnard Castle sold another ram lamb to £1600selling to Messrs Ridley, Lilswood Grange, Hexham.

A 100 percent clearance for both aged and ram lambs was achieved with aged rams averaging £951.72 and ram lambs averaging £604.29.
