Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 22nd October the weekly sale of stirks and weaned bulls took place in Borderway with a show of 261 forward and once again met a superb trade for all classes of cattle.  A total of 76 bulls were forward and met an average of £1568.55 right through. Topping the sale went to Mr Steven Graham, Miller Hill selling a pair of 15 month Limousins to £2530. The same home sold a superb run of 7 to average £2430.  Angus bulls topped at £1820 from Alan Bowman, Brampton Fell.  Charolais bulls topped at £2290 from John Edgar, Castle Nook who sold 4 to average £2127.50.  Messrs Goldie, Newbie Mains sold some young Simmental bulls to £1560. 

A small show of steers was forward with 54 averaging £1384. Topping was a Limousin steer from David Reid, Calf Park selling to £1910. Angus steers topped at £1710 from E A Sherwen, Seascale.  Herefords topped at £1820 who sold 11 to average £1427.  Messrs Beaty, Newton Field sold two British Blues to £1770 and sold 16 to average £1629.38.  A total of 131 heifers were sold to average £1308.09.  Top went to a British Blue from Messrs Farish, Newton Arlosh selling to £1960.  Limousin topped at £1440 from Messrs Elliott, Hallburn Croft who sold five to average £1842.  Many more to satisfy demand.
