Annual 'Newcastleton' Blue Grey Cattle Sale

On Tuesday 21^st October, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their Great Annual Special sale of Blue Grey In Calf Heifers, Bulling Heifers and heifer calves along with the sale of Suckler calves and native breed store cattle at Lockerbie.

An absolutely packed ringside at Lockerbie of buyers saw all records obliterated with the overall average up a staggering £1003.33 to level at £2037.63.

In Calf heifers sold to £3050 for 2 from Messrs Wallace, Farneyshields. 25 In Calf Heifers from Messrs Flintoff, Sourhope averaged a mind boggling £2904.

Bulling heifers sold to £2400 for a pen of 5 from Mr J Ions, High Thorneyburn with Messrs Kyle, Spoutbank selling 4 at £2300.

Spring born heifer calves met a glorious demand selling to £1450 on 3 occasions from Messrs Pattinson, Hotbank, Messrs Gibson, Mouse Syke and Messrs Redman, Greenside.

In the Bullock section, Messrs Moore, Softley took the top award, selling a pen of 5 (5-6 month) at £1360 and 5 at £1350 with Messrs Waugh, The Row selling 11 to £1320.
