Upper Barr Reduction Sale

The McMiken family from Upper Barr farm near Newton Stewart sold 113 cows and heifers in milk from their well-known and much-admired Holstein herd at Borderway, Carlisle on Wednesday 5^th November. This special reduction sale featured all the most recently calved animals with many cows producing over 50kgs. This outstanding group of Holsteins topped at 3,100gns to average £2513 per life.

Topping at 3,100gns was a super special second lactation cow sired by Boghill Glamour Skeletor. She had calved in August and was giving 40kgs and was purchased by the Graham family from Mains of Burn Bank Farm near Stirling.

Equalling the top price at 3,100gns was a powerful framed heifer sired by Winstar Equity P who was also purchased by the Graham family from Mains of Burn Bank Farm near Stirling. She was recently calved and bred from an impressive line of high production dams.

Denovo Kimmel sired several top-quality heifers in milk and it was one of his daughters that sold for 3,000gns to Newhouse Farms in Dumfries.
