Middleton In Teasdale Sale of Suckled Calves

On Tuesday 4th November 2025 Harrison & Hetherington held the much anticipated special show and sale of suckled calves in Middleton in Teesdale mart, this prominent event in the sales calendar is kindly sponsored by Eden Farm supplies, H&H Land & Estates, H&H insurance Brokers, Devid Teward Ltd, Jameson and Carrs Billington.

The pre sale judging saw the strongest entry seen in years presented before our judge Mr Kevin Ludgate who did a first class job of the task put in front of him, his Champion came from the noted home of Messrs White, Rigg Farm with their 1st prize Limousin heifer, this Red roan heifer caught the eye of many admirers , she later went onto break the market record selling for £10,000. The Reserve Champion came from Messrs Hutchinson, Bail Hill with their 2nd prize Limousin x heifer she sold at £3800, Ms Hutchinson also brought out the days bullock Champion he led this section at £3500 selling to the judge, in Reserve was the 2nd prize Limousin from Messrs Allinson West Brisco which sold at £2600. The sale was a flier from the word go with many calves selling over £2000 to level up at £1787 which is a rise of £520 on last years event.

Topping the vendor averages at £2964 were Messrs Hutchinson, Bail Hill who sold 5 beautifully presented calves which a further 8 vendors averaging over £2000 and 20% of all cattle forward selling from £2000-£10000.
