On Wednesday 12th November Harrison and Hetherington conducted its weekly sale of weaned bulls and stirks in Borderway. A smaller show was forward with a total sale average of £1219.18 being achieved. A total of 82 bulls were forward to average £1729.88. Topping went to a pure Limousin from Clive Knox, Cragside selling to £1970. Mark Byers, Walton brought three Limousin 9 month bulls averaging to £1620 and topping at £1790. Messrs Edmondson, Ulverston brought six 6/7 months old suckler bulls Limousin bred to £1290. Steers met a strong trade from the offset. Topping went to a pen of three Angus calves from S & K Baxter-Pigg, Gaitsgill selling to £1740. Brian Maltas sold a superb pen of 5 Limousin steers to £1700. Andrew Spedding, Stone Flatts sold 11 Angus steers to £1370. Heifers topped at £2220 for a pair of Limousin heifers from D & S Robinson, Hawkstead and Angus heifers topped at £2000 from Edward Dean, Kirkhouse. This run of 6 went on to average £1760.
