Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 19^th November Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves.  Trade continued at high levels seen in previous weeks, especially for the best end.  Topping today was a great run of Blues from Messrs Martin, Tempest Tower at £870 and £840.  Messrs Forster, East Wharmley had a tremendous 2 month Charolais bull to £810.  D & M Wyllie, The Gill had a Beef Shorthorn bull to £800.  Messrs Hill, Arlosh House had Blue bulls to £780.   Angus bulls topped at £775 from Messrs Neill, Howtell.  Messrs Forster, Wreay Hall had 3 week old Limousins to £730.

Heifers were also topped by Tempest Tower with two at £790 and £780.  Messrs McKie, Wedholme Hill had blues to £735.  Messrs Neills, Howtel had Simmental heifers to £730 and £720.  Messrs Martin, Boggle Hall had Blues to £710 (x2).  TS Byerley, Birtley Shields, Hexham had Limousin heifers to £700.

Messrs Dent, Bridge End had Montbeliarde bulls to £490.  Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown had Holsteins to £490 (x2).  Messrs Mattocks, Aulby, Penrith  had Friesian bulls to £475 and £470.  Messrs McKie, Wedholme Hill had Holsteins to £450.  Smalmstown also had four to £436.
