Kirkby Stephen Chirstmas Bonanza sale of OTM and Cast Cows

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their fortnightly Sale of cast and OTM cattle with a Christmas bonanza of 51 forward.

Topping the sale and taking the Christmas prize or the top priced Beef bred cow was eleven year old Limousin cross which topped the sale £2834.16 (784kg at 361.5p/kg) from Messrs Marston, Easegill Head, Kirkby Stephen purchased by D Barker, Scarborough.

Topping the sale at 401.5p/kg was a 678kg Limousin cross cow which totalled £2722.17 from B Action, Leyburn purchased by Owain Llyr, Ruthin.

Messrs Wharton, Highfield, Dry Beck sold a 762kg British Blue cross cow to make 334.5p/kg totalling £2548.89 selling to Owain Llyr.

Kelsey Maughan, Woodfoot, Crosby Ravenstowth sold a seven year old Limousin cross cow weighing 681kg making 367.5p/kg and totalling £2502.68 selling to D Barker.

Messrs Jenskinson, Whingill, Hartley sold a Aberdeen Angus cow to make £2492.16 (768kg at 324.5p/kg)

Barry Maughan, Woodfoot sold a Limousin cross cow weighing 611kg to make 389.5p/kg and £2379.85 selling to Owain Llyr.

Messrs Paul, Sawbridge Hall, Bleatarn sold a British Blue cross to make £2392.

Messrs Deighton, Abbey Park, Bleatarn sold a Limousin cross cow to make £2352.46 with another Limousin cross cow weighing 676kg and making 340.5p/kg totalling £2301.78.

Messrs Beck, Townfoot, Longdale topped dairy bred cows at £2160.40 for a seven year old Norwegian Red cow.

Topping the dairy section pence per kilo at 325.5p and totalling £2027.87 was a 623kg heifer from Messrs Chippendale, Wharton Hall, Kirkby Stephen, this home also sold 626kg helstein to make £1924.95 (307.5p/kg)

Messrs Beck, Townfoot sold a five year old Holstein Friesian cow to make £1999.73 with another 778kg Frisian cow making £1902.21.

All classes, breed and grades of cast cows were on fire with all Limousin cows forward averaging 300.7p/kg and £1977.50 all continental cows forward averaged a whopping £1910.45 (281.3p/kg) all dairy bred cows forward averaged £1711.65 (268.6p/kg) with a fantastic overall sale average of £1853.50 and 277.13p/kg being achieved.
