Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 26^th November the weekly sale of weaned bulls and stirks took place in Borderway.  A show of 287 were forward to once again maintain Ring 4’s reputation for younger cattle.  As the North of England’s leading centre a total of 96 bulls were forward to average £1330.83.  Topping went to T & AT Bowman, Brampton Fell who sold 2 12 month Angus bulls to £1920.  Sue Dale-Sunley, Airds of Balcray came with 5 Charolais 8 month bulls to average £1478.  M/s Darnbrook, Cleughside came with 5 Shorthorn bulls aged 10 months to average £1624.M/s Reay, West Moorhouses attended with 10 of the finest Limousin and British Blue bulls seen in recent times all aged 7-8 months, they went on to average £1856 topping at £1910. Steers were once again superb from the get go with 91 averaging £1441.98.  TW West, Rottinghham came with a superb run of 6 Limousin steers to average £1860 and topping at £1960 for a pair.  Kate Evans, Wheyrigg sold a Charolais steer to £1930.  M/s Noble, Mill Farm, Beckermet came with 4 Bazabaise steers to sell to £1730 and £1580.  M/s Bargatton came with a superb run of Charolais steers.  This first run went on to average £1627.50 topping at £1680.  Heifers were once again on fire with a section average of £1330.83.  Topping went to a pen of 4 Limousin heifers from M/s Bird, High Wreay selling to £1880.  Blue heifers topped at £1550 for a single heifer from M/s Errington, Penrith.  M/s Sloan, Dumfries brought a single Angus heifer to £1540.  Once again ring 4 goes from strength to strength despite the efforts of other centres, if you’re not trying us now is the time!
