A good entry of 360 forward store cattle presented to the usual big crowd of buyers in Borderway Mart at their weekly sale. Unbelievably, trade was sharper on the week for all classes. Topping the sale overall was a run of Aberdeen Angus crosses from Messrs Smith, Campingholm, Gretna, these sold to £2880, £2720, £2700 and £2560. Best Limousin cross steer was sold by Messrs Cairns, Windy Nook, Carlisle at £2480 matching this price was a pair of Charolais crosses from Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas. British Blues £2450 at Messrs Mounsey, Wardhall Guards, Wigton and Simmental to £2420 for a 32 month old from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna.
Heifers peaked at £2400 twice, firstly by Messrs Oliver, Walton Woodhead, Carlisle for a Limousin cross and secondly by Messrs Fisher, Laughlaugh, Castle Douglas for a 19 month old Charolais cross. Other Charolais sold to £2300 from Messrs Haston, Swordwellrigg, Annan.
