KIBBLESTONE HERD IN PURSUIT OF PERFECTION

The December Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale featured almost 500 dairy cattle with quality animals from several breeds all on offer.  Demand and values for freshly calved cows and heifers remained strong as did most of the all the categories of dairy cattle on offer.   Trade topped at 3,500gns with the overall average for heifers coming to £2651 with 31 animals selling for or more than £3000.  Buyers from across the UK packed the ringside with cattle going to 19 counties in England, Scotland and Wales. 

The sale was sponsored by Agri King with the top price coming from the Criag family from Dunfermline with their super uddered heifer, Kibblestone Pursuit Effie who sold for £3,500.  She was sired by Pine-tree Pursuit and was bred from am Unix dam.  They also sold Kibblestone Einstein Gloss for £3,400 with their impressive consignment averaging £3125. 

The Errolston consignment from the Davidson’s who farm near Gretna attracted a lot of interest and they topped at £3,400 for Errolston Malki Ricki Sheik.  Her dam was an Excellent 93 pointed cow with massive records over 14000kgs. 

The Wilson family from Clackmae Farm in Berwickshire sold an impressive group of high production heifers and topped at £3,400 for Nydie Rhapsody Éclair.  She was bred from generations of dams all with massive lifetime yields and Superior Production awards.

Cows topped at £3,400 on several occasions with two coming from the Kaemuir herd of the Orr’s from Falkirk.  This powerful consignment of cows all were producing large volumes of milk from highly attractive udders.  Kaemuir Chase Pansy and Kaemuir Citzen Pansy were the two second lactation cows selling for £3,400.

The sale featured several part dispersal sales, this included the first sale to disperse the Newhouse herd owned by the Carr’s from Beckfoot.  They topped at £2,300 for a recently calved Holstein heifer.

The Raithhill herd from Ayrshire held their first sale to disperse their herd and topped at £1,750 for a well bred Ayrshire heifer that was recently calved.

Bulls Top At £6,000  

Overall top price on the day went a classy Holstein bull who sold for £6,000.  Annandale Finnegan was consigned by the Armour’s from Milton Farm in Moffat.  He was sired by Annandale Lingarde and was bred from an Excellent dam that produced over 100 ton lifetime.

The Innes family from Nairn sold a well bred group of late lactation and dry cows topping at £2,500 for a second lactation cow sired by Attraction Red and bred from the August family that was developed at the Kepculloch herd. 

In Calf heifers were less money on the month for good quality heifers with twelve heifers topping at £2,200 to average £1958.

A well bred group of bulling heifers from the Innes family from Nairn topped at £1,450 for Newmeadow Snappy Man to average £1255 and heifer calves topped at £750 twice for two calved from Alan McCamley from Knockshiffnock Farm in Ayrshire.
