Summer Stunners Online Sheep Sale

The inaugural Summer Stunners online sheep sale was held between Tuesday 1^st and Thursday 3^rd June and saw an excellent trade throughout the breeds.

BADGERFACE TEXEL
This section topped the sale at £5300 for an empty ewe hogg from A & C Richardson’s Cleenagh flock. This was Cleenagh Beauti sired by Cleenagh Celebrity Juice and out of an imported ewe who is the flock’s flushing ewe. She was purchased by Messrs Wright from Boston, Lincolnshire.

A & J Carson’s Little Whisker Bacuri sold for the next best price of £3050 to Messrs Jones from Pencader, Carmarthenshire. This hogg’s sire and dam were both imported by the flock.

At £2700 was Little Whisker Apricot sold with her twin lambs at foot Chilli and Cherry who were sired by Beili Arnold. Apricot was again out of imported parents, and she was purchased by Messrs Andrews from Stroud, Gloucestershire.

BLUE TEXEL
A & C Richardson also topped the Blue Texel section this time with Cleenagh Baby Doll and her ram lamb at foot Cleenagh Freddie Flintstone. Baby Doll was sired by the imported Cleenagh Xquizit and out of Hackney Yalika and she has 4 sisters retained in the flock. Her lamb, Freddie Flintstone, was sired by Whatmore Diesel. The successful buyer of this lot was Messrs Cormack from Jedburgh.

At £4350 was a February born ewe lamb from A Allen & A Shortt of the Derg flock. This lamb, Derg Fantasy, is sired by Saltire Blue Derek and out of Derg Coco Chanel who also bred the 5000gns Derg Elle.  Fantasy was purchased by Messrs Millen from Coleraine, Co Londonderry.

The best of the Blue Texel hoggs was Cleenagh Eye Full, sired by Whatmore Chizel and out of Cleenagh Bambino this hogg was purchased for £4150 by an undisclosed buyer.

DUTCH SPOTTED
Emma Allen’s Diamond flock provided the top two priced Dutch Spotted with the February born ewe lamb Diamond Emilia selling for £4500. This lamb who is a full sister to 5000gns Diamond Electro was sired by Drumhirk Decider and out of Glencoy Chelsie. The successful purchaser of this lot was Messrs Kelly from Ballybofey, Donegal.

Emma’s next best was Diamond Exotic who went for £2900. This ewe lamb was also sired by Drumhirk Decider but this time out of the imported Bella II. She was purchased by Messrs Porter from Lifford, Donegal.

A ewe lamb from CJ Johnston sold for £2500. This was Johnstown’s Elsa who like the top two prices was also sired by Drumhirk Decider. Elsa was purchased by Messrs Shortt from Strabane, Co Tyrone.

BLUEFACED LEICESTER
The only Bluefaced Leicester consignor was G & J Loughery’s Temain flock but this didn’t deter from the prices. Best of these was a recipient with twin ewe lambs at foot that sold for £3150. The sire of these lambs, Temain Boss, was sold for 10,000gns with a share being retained and their dam won her class at the Great Yorkshire Show. This lot was purchased by JM Livestock from Kirkmichael, Ayr.

TEXEL
The Texel section sold to a top price of £3000 for an empty ewe hogg from Brian Hanthorn’s Mullan flock. This hogg, HBN2002273, was sired by Brackenridge Commander and out of a homebred daughter of Garngour Upperclass. She was purchased by Messrs Wilkinson from Cookstown, Co Tyrone.

Andrew Kennedy sold the next best price at £2800 to Messrs Linton from Ballymoney, Co Antrim. This Maineview ewe hogg, KMR2001232, was sired by Deveronvale Aftershock and out of the flock’s best ewe.

Andrew sold a further two hoggs, both at £1850. The first KMR2001226 was sired by Deveronvale Aftershock, out of IJS1600722 and purchased by Messrs Kennedy, Newtonards, Co Down. The second was by Knock Bantastic out of a homebred ewe and purchased by Messrs Paul, Maghera, Co Londonderry.

CHAROLLAIS
Charollais sold to £2300 for a ewe lamb from Graham Foster’s Springhill flock. This January born lamb was sired by Logie Durno Van The Man and out of 7500gns Tullyear Uptown Lady. She was purchased by Messrs James from Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire.

D & S Cowan sold the next best Charollais at £1500. This was a ewe lamb from their Tullyear flock sired by Tullyear VG and out of a Knockin Shop daughter.
