Prime & Cast Sheep Sale

PRIME SHEEP: On Monday 15th December Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of prime sheep, again a great number was presented to a full accompaniment of buyers all eager to secure for orders, this saw trade take a big lift on the week with every breed weight and grade taking a rise across both the cast and prime sections , 700 ewes were forward and on the whole a much leaner hill type of ewe was on offer, the top price of the day was paid to Messrs Illingworth, Howgillside, Lockerbie who sold a pure texel ewe at £320 to Yorkshire Halal Meat, Ossett , the lamb section saw an overall average of 325p SQQ 338p both a hefty lift on last week, a slightly lighter show overall certainly helped with more competition created by the larger range of weights on offer, topping at £212 and 513p was Messrs Storey, Woodhead, Hexham which sold to Bowland Foods Ltd, Preston , we are open both Mondays over Christmas 22nd and 29th and will require large numbers of both ewes and lambs to ensure buyer orders are fulfilled.
