Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 17^th December Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with a bigger and better show of 403 calves.  The buoyant trade continues in Ring 5 with young milk calves continue to sell at recent high rates with plenty ringside demand.  Topping the sale at £870 was a 3 month old British Blue from AJ & JA McKie, Wedholme Hill, Wigton and the same good home sold others to £865.  2 months old British Blue bull calves sold to £840 twice from TL & EL Dixon, High House, Egremont and again from TW Martin, Tempest Tower.  1 month old Blues sold to £690 from Bowe Dairy Farming, Chalk Lodge.  1 month Inra 95 sold to £610 from TA & ML Jackson & Daughters, Guillyhill.  T & C Halliday, Broathill, Kirkpatrick Farming topped the heifers at £750 on 2 different occasions with a 4 month old Blue and also a 5 month old Blue.  Young Limousin heifers at just under a month old were up to £620 from IT & EM Carlyle, Bleaberry Rigg.  Angus heifers topped at £580 from Shacklehill Farm, with R Pigg & Sons, Gaitsgill close behind at £570 with a 2 month old heifer.
