Borderway Store Cattle Sale

A New Year and a new and improved trade at Borderway with 305 cattle forward at the firms first sale of 2026 whereby an overall average of £2004.39 was achieved for the good, bad and ugly.  Topping the sale overall was a 31 month old dairy bred British Blue from Messrs Parson, Town House, Kendal at £2560.  Limousin crosses to £2500 from Messrs Slack, Cockleybank, Brampton and to £2480 from Messrs Mason, Bank Farm, Penrith.  Aberdeen Angus sold to £2470 from Messrs Holliday, Newbampton Farm, Wigton and Herefords to £2400 from Messrs Johnstone, Westray, Cockermouth.  Heifers peaked at £2460 from a 19 month old Limousin cross from Messrs Dean, Rigg Head, Carlisle, the same home also sold best Charolais cross to £2440.  Aberdeen Angus topped at £2400 and £2360 for 34 months old from Messrs Robinson, Rowell Farm, Milnthorpe.  Messrs Holliday, Newbampton, Wigton matched £2360 for a pair and top priced British Blue came from Rigghead Farm, Carlisle at £2300.

Dairy bred steers saw a top at £2140 for a Holstein from Messrs Holliday, Newbampton, Wigton and £2080 for a Holstein Friesian from Messrs Crayston, Brackenhowe, Holmrook.
