Borderway Store Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their weekly store cattle sale at Borderway with yet another good show of 450 store cattle forward.  Trade left vendors dumbfounded as the Prime cattle slips again this week stores on the whole see a flyer.  Biggest and fittest cattle would see a slight easing in the week understandably but all others great to sell.  Top overall was a 24 month old Limousin cross steer from Longtown Farmers, Messrs Story, Blackrigg at £2600.  Messrs Gillespie, High Stand, Carlisle sold best Charolais to £2560.  British Blues to £2400 from Messrs Moffat, Kirtlebank, Gretna and two Herdford  crosses from Messrs Johnstone, Westray, Cockermouth to £2400 also.

Heifers peaked at £2470 for a Charolais cross from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown.  British Blues to £2420 from Messrs Coates, Beckhall, Canonbie.  Limousins to £2380 from Messrs Crichton, Rottington Hall, Whitehaven and finally Montbeliardes to £2360 from Messrs Haston, Swordwellrigg, Annan.

Heifers peaked at £2470 for a Charolais cross from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown.  British Blues to £2420 from Messrs Coates, Beckhall, Canonbie.  Limousins to £2380 from Messrs Crichton, Rottington Hall, Whitehaven and finally Montbeliardes to £2360 from Messrs Haston, Swordwellrigg, Annan.

Dairy bred steers peaked at £2300 for an MRI for Swordwellrigg, Annan.  Fleckviehs to £2250 from Messrs Park, Browns Farm, Seascale and Holstein Friesians to £2180 from Messrs Mitchell, Grassknop, Penrith.  Wagyus sold to £2120 for a pair of Fisher Farming, Smalmstown, Longtown.
