Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 21st January Harrison & Hetherington conducted their sale of weaned bulls and stirks in Borderway.  A smaller entry compared to last week mammoth showing , however 308 still went on to average £1354.16.  A total 95 bulls were forward going on average £1252.21.  Topping the sale went to a big 21 month Limousin from Messrs Hughes, Dona Close selling to £2410.  Angus bulls topped at £2210 from Ian Armststrong, Shankfield Head selling  four to average £2095.  A larger show of dairy bred bulls were present.  Messrs Mattocks, Row Hall came with ten 7/8 month Friesian and Holstein bulls to £950 averaging £905.  British Blues bulls topped at £2000 from Messrs Elliot, Hallburn Croft.  A strong show of steers were forward to average £1458.89 topping were to a big Charolais steer from Craig Routledge, Netherton selling to £2140.  This run of 13 went to average £1770.77.  The same home topped the Limousin selling to £2060. Angus steers topped at £1500 from Brian Maltas, Moffat and Shorthorn steers topped at £1320 for a pen of five from Messrs Thompson, Farlam Hall.  Messrs Threlkeld, Baileytown sold a cracking pen of 10 Blue steers to £1400.  Heifers averaged £1348.16 with top price going to John Eve, Stubbsgill for a pure Limousin selling to £2359.  This run of 3 went to average £2273.  Angus heifers sold to £1920 from Messrs Ward, Whitstonehill and British Blues to £1650 from Messrs Hodge, the Grove.  Charolais topped at £1650 from CW Forster, Hexham.  Over 850 stirks sold in 7 days in Borderway to average £1400.  Can you afford to not try us?
