Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 28th January Harrison & Hetherington conducted their sale of weaned bulls and stirks in Borderway.  A smaller show was forward with 211 going under the hammer to average £1463.65.  A total of 78 bulls were forward averaged £1451.54.  Topping the section went to a Pure Limousin from Messrs Dale-Sunley, Ross Farm selling to £3400.  Beef Shorthorn bulls topped at £1990 from Messrs Benson, Levens and Messrs Tallentire, High Griseburn topped with Simmentals at £1730.  Messrs Armstrong, Broomhills sold a Highland to £1260.  Steers averaged £1481 with top price going to Messrs Johnson, East Foreshields selling a Limousin steer to £2240.  This run of 9 averaged £1946 selling heifers to £2060.  Angus steers topped at £1940 from Messrs Brass, Espland and Blues topped at £1820 from W Graham, Wigton.   Charolais also topped at £1960 from Messrs Brass. 

Heifers averaged £1462 with Angus heifers selling to £1820 from Messrs Skelton, The Gill.  Blue heifers topped at £1670 from a pen of 4 from Messrs Harrison, Sleightholme and Charolais at £1700 from Brian Maltas for a superb pen of three.
