Harrison & Hetherington had an entry of 905 cattle at their weekly sale comprising of a catalogued entry of 262 Store Cattle, 254 Un-entered store bulls and weanlings, and 389 Calves.
STORE CATTLE – On Wednesday 23rd June Harrison & Hetherington Limited held their sale of store cattle with a similar entry of 262 forward whereby once again trade has firmed with an excellent trade achieved throughout for all classes but especially for stronger forward cattle.
Topping the sale was a British Blue cross steer from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth attaining £1530, the same vendors also sold the top Limousin cross to £1490. Messrs Holliday, South View, Penrith saw their run of cattle peak at £1430 for a Charolais cross. Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna had an enjoyable day as usual selling Beef Shorthorns to £1410 and Aberdeen Angus cross to £1400. Heifers seen a day’s top of £1500 for a Limousin cross and £1480 for a Charolais cross both of which were presented by Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, once again. Messrs Batty, Flimby Hall, Maryport sold their yearling Limousin cross to £1390 matching this price was another from Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith.

WEANED CATTLE : A larger entry of weaned cattle and bulls were forward with all cattle very well bid for and dearer on the week.
Top price of the day was a Montbelairde x heifer from Messrs Jamison, East Nethershields Farm selling at £1260. Messrs Pattinson, The Flatt consigned a young Limousin x Heifer which was very well sold selling for £1190.
Steers and bulls were notably sharper on the week with Bulls topping at £1170 for a Limousin from Messrs Ritchie, Croft Ends, Rockcliffe. Another consignment which sold very well was from Messrs Henshall, Sarkshields for 9/10 months of age Limousins which topped at £1160 to average at £1090.
Messrs Routledge, Netherton had two Charolais x steers which sold to £1090, with his consigned of 31 Charolais x and Limousin steers and heifers averaging out at a very respectable £977.10
