Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 4th February Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale with an entry of 250 forward.  Trade would be dearer on the week, particularly the strongest end.

The sale topped at £1040 from Messrs Johnstone, Nether Auchenreoch.  This same home also sold to £1030 with Herefords to £980 and £940.  Limousin bulls sold to £930 and £910 from Messrs Kennedy, Chapelcroft.  McNabney Bros sold Limousin bulls to £900 and Angus to the same price. The Beards of Dormansteads brought their usual top quality topping at £880, £840 and £820 for British Blue bulls.  Messrs Forster, Weary Hall topped at £880 (x2) and £860 for Limousin bulls.  Turnbull Farming had British Blues to £860.  Galloway bulls sold to £800 from Messrs Rome, Kirkbog.

Heifers topped at £1000 for a British Blue from McNabney Bros.  Messrs Johnstone, Nether Auchenreoch had British Blue heifers to £980 and £940 and Aberdeen Angus to £900 and £850.  Messrs Irving, Brunt Hill sold British Blues to £780.  Messrs Kennedy, Chapelcroft sold a pair of Limousin heifers to £780.

Black and whites sold to an electric trade with Messrs Scott, Seat House topping at £660.  They also sold to £580 and £515.  Messrs Morris, Greengatehouse sold Holstein to £520.  Tarnrigg Ltd, Wigton had the same breed to £500.
