Broughton Herd Tops With A Fancy Red
February dairy sales kicked off at Borderway with a quality offering of freshly calved cows and heifers and strong in calf heifers. Trade was less on the month to average £2131 for milking heifers with the trade toping at £3000.
The sale was sponsored by Agri-King with the top price coming from the Holden family from Broughton-In-Furness with a tremendous young heifer sired by Delta Abundant. Broughton Cas Red sold for £3000 with her dam being a high production cows with lactations over 13000kgs.
The Carduff herd owned by the Bryson’s from Lesmahagow sold a strong group of heifers topping at £2800 for Carnduff Bryson Penny. She was sired by Gen Bryson and bred from a VG89 pointed dam with super high production.
Several heifers and cows sold for £2750 including Kibbleston Pharo Effie from the Craigs from Carneil Farm near Dunfermline.
The Wilson family from Clackmae Farm in Berwickshire sold an impressive group of nine high production heifers topping at £2600 for Nydie Hailed Eclispe who giving 40kgs.
The second sale to disperse the famous Halmyre Ayrshire herd owned by the Davidson family from Castle Douglas topped at £2600 for Halmyre Urr Ladybird, a young second lactation cow that had calved early Janusry and was giving almost 50kgs.
The best trade of the day went to a special consignment of HoJo’s consigned by Carstairs Dairy near Lanark. They were all sired by Holstein sires from high production Jerseys and all were giving oceans of milk. They topped at £2350 to average almost £2000.
In Calf heifers topped at £2150 for YoungBro Pattern Phoebe who was consigned by Ed & Linda Wilson from Petteril Hill Farm near Carlisle. She was sired by Progenesis Pattern and bred from a Almamater dam with production records over 150000kgs.
