On Wednesday 4th February 2026 Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale with a smaller show of 370 big forward store cattle at Borderways seeing a very good overall average of £2004.66 for both dairy and suckler bred cattle. The very biggest and the very best quality cattle throughout were a dream to sell and the plainest cattle proved a little harder to cash. Topping out overall at £2560 was a 23 month old Limousin cross steer from Messrs Batey, High Knells, Carlisle. The same home sold next best at £2520. Messrs Hewetson, Lords Close, Maryport sold one of theirs to £2480 and the top priced British Blue cross to £2460. Messrs Dickinson, Low House, Wigton sold 19 months old Limousins to £2480. Best Charolais at £2440 came from High Knells. Aberdeen Angus crosses to £2430 for 27 month old from Messrs Cullen, Crosshill, Carlisle.
Heifers sold to a top of £2440 for an outstanding 21 month old Charolais cross from Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas. British Blue crosses to £2400 for 18 months from Messrs Storey, New Hummerbecks, Durham. Limousin from Messrs Dobson, East View, Southwaite to £2340 and best Natives were Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Ferguson, Sandbed, Longtown to £2270 for 23 months.
Dairy bred steers peaked at £1980 for a pure Fleckvieh from Messrs Hebson, Chapel Farm, Carlisle. Four Holsteins Friesian from Messrs Atkinson, Hawkrigg, Appleby to £1920 and pure Holsteins to £1870 from Messrs Moffat, Kirtlebank, Gretna and finally Wagyus to £2120 from Messrs Coates, Beckhall, Canonbie.
