North Country Cheviot Female Sale

Centre record equaled at Lockerbie on Saturday 7^th February as Hownam Grange Ophelia sold for £4500.

Topping the Park type section at £4500 was the Overall Champion Park, a hogg from the Hownam Grange flock who equalled the centre record, that they previously set themselves in 2019. This Humbleheugh Cantankerous daughter was the flocks show lamb in 2025 and sold to local new breeder Mr Neil Millar, Lockerbie.

The Nun Cote Nook run of females topped at £3600 for the first prize park gimmer by homebred Charmander, she sold carrying twins to homebred Franco and sold to the Judge, Mr Williams Heads, Greendale flock.

The Attonburn flock of Bowmont Farming, Yetholm dominated the ‘Hill type’ trade, reaching a top of £2200 for the Reserve Champion, a gimmer by Badanloch Wildfire, in lamb to the £22,000 Dorrery Dynamite carrying a single selling to Messrs Kirk, Thurso. Their 4^th prize gimmer, carries twins, again in lamb to Dorrery Dynamite, however this time a grand daughter of £16,000 Badanloch Xtra Special and sold for £1900 jointly to Messrs Robertson and Messrs Matherson both Inverness.

£2200 Attonburn

The annual consignment from George Milne’s Kinaldy flock topped at £2000 for a Park gimmer to Messrs Johnstone, Aberdeenshire.

The first from the Kelso pen caught the eye of Messrs Kerr, Ayrshire, when she was purchased for £1900. She is a Humbleheugh bred daughter, selling with a single to Dunion Farmer.

The Overall Champion Hill was the first prize gimmer from local breeders the Carruthers flock. An Auldallan bred gimmer selling in lamb to Sorbietrees Elvis. She fetched £1800 and travels down to Conway to T & L Hughes.   

A small selection of Black Cheviots were forward and topped at £1000 for the single entry from Steven Turnbull’s Jethart flock. A Park type gimmer carrying a single to North Synton, she sold to Messrs Redfern, Derbyshire.
