On Tuesday 10th February Harrison & Hetherington held the annual show and sale of store cattle in Middleton in Teesdale Auction Market, a high quality entry of 242 head were forward with the pre-sale show being well supported giving our judge Mr Matt Morris, Leicester plenty to reside over, a special thank you must go to our sponsors H&H Insurance Brokers, H&H Land & Estates, Castle Farm Vets, I’Ansons, Tithebarn, Eden Farm Supplies. Matt’s Champion came from  renowned local producers JC & J White, Rigg Farm with their first prize British blue cross heifer she later went on to top the sale at £5000 selling to Sean Marsh, Dover, it was the second prize British blue heifer from David Mallon, Pallet Crag which followed her all the way into the reserve champion position, she later went on to sell for £3200 selling to the judge Matt Morris, Leicestershire.  Outwith the show a fantastic day’s trading was enjoyed in Middleton with an overall average of £1956.38 which saw the steers take a rise of £232 on the year to level at £1893.50 and the heifers lift £262 on the year to level at £2032.59, this being achieved with an entry averaging around the 10 months of age.
