Borderway Store and Breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 16th February Harrison & Hetherington conducted its opening sale of in lamb sheep in Borderway market.  A strong show of 500 head was forward to average  sale average of £227 for the sale.  A superb entry of mules were forward with over 200 shearlings to broken mouthed averaging £225.  Topping the sale went to John and Iain Gilhespy, Tedcastle selling a pen of 4 crop Texels scanned twins to £285.  The same home sold Suffolks ewes with twins to £278 and sold pen of 3 shear mules to £280 all scanned twins.  The super run of 202 head went on to average £253.  Beltex ewes topped at £285 from Messrs Howard Lees Hill for some Shearling with twins.  Many more could have been sold to the vendors advantage as a large ringside of buyers were present ensuring all classes were keenly bid for with some vendors describing sheep £20-£30 dearer than other outlets.

Store lambs remained strong with an average of £107 being achieved.  Top went to Mr Watret, Burnside selling a Beltex lambs to £148.  Texels topped at £136 from Messrs Neve, Riggfoot
