On Thursday evening Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held the Annual Prize Show and Sale of Individual Crowned Swaledale Ewes, Shearlings and Gimmer Hoggs on behalf of the Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association at Kirkby Stephen Mart.
A good quality show was on offer with ewes displaying good breed characteristics and body to go as well, they were very good to sell achieving good prices.
Topping the sale at £3800 was the overall Champion sheep, a two shear ewe from J Bland, Mossdale Head Farm, which was bought by Messrs Sellars, Sycamore Farm, Pickering.
R Hallam, High Birkwith Farm, Settle sold the Reserve placed Gimmer Shearling to make £3500, selling to Burncroft Farm, Eggleston.
Lewis Staley very generously donated his Gimmer Hogg to the Papyrus Charity which went on to sell for £800 to Laurie Blades, Little Ings, Hawes.
A Shepherds Crook made and kindly donated by Graham Rennie for the Papyrus Charity went on to sell for £450 to Martin Wilson, Arngill House, Lunedale.
Next selling for £1800 was a Gimmer Shearling from Messrs Pratt, Daleview Farm, Leyburn which was bought by Messrs Robinsonson, Catlow Farm, Slaidburn.
D.J. Coates, Tetheran, Richmond sold a three shear ewe for £1500 which was purchased by Messrs Hutchinson, Redgate, Kirkby Stephen.
