Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 18th February Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves.  All sections took a rise with 320 forward as they continued to hit the next level with good part of the sale consisting of Black and whites and grass calves.  Top price today went to T W Martin, Tempest Tower for a 2 month British Blue bull at £960.  This home also sold to £950 and £920.  Messrs Martin, Boggle Hall sold a Limousin bull to £930.  J & R Ramsey, Lodge of Kelton sold Angus bulls to £920 and £910.  Brownrigg Hall Ltd had British Bue bulls to £910.  Brownrigg Hall Ltd had Blue bulls to £910.   Messrs Armstrong, Blunderfield sold to £890 and £870 for British Blue bulls.  Herefords topped at £800 from Messrs Maxwell, North Doddington.

Heifers sold to £860 for a Charolais from J & R Ramsey, Lodge of Kelton.  R J Raven, Crookdale Hall had British Blues to £845.  Thackwood Farms sold British Blue heifers to £830 and £810 (x2),  Messrs Howie, Wellhouse sold to £770 along with Bateson & Braithwaite.  The Beards of Dormanstead sold their usual quality to £750 for British Bue heifer.  Reay Farming sold a Limousin heifer to £740.

Black and whites sold to an electric trade topping at £740 for a Holstein from Messrs Mawson, Bailey Ground.  Fleckviehs topped at £700 from Messrs Ireland, Dykeside.  K & M Jamieson, Woodhead sold a pair of Holsteins to £680.  Bateson & Braithwaite sold to £610 and £600.  Messrs Mattock, Aulby had Friesian to £600.
