On Wednesday 18th February 2026 Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale with an increased entry of 411 store cattle selling to another incredible average of £2044 for both steers and heifers. The very biggest cattle were seen to creep up in price also with more and more achieving £2400+. A days top of £2660 went to a Charolais cross from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna with others to £2580 from Messrs Moffat, Stonehouse, Gretna and Limousins to £2560 from the same home. Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown achieved £2500 for another big Limousin cross. Beef Shorthorns from Messrs Watret, Burnside, Annan sold to £2480 and best British Blues to £2460 for 19 months old from Messrs Waugh, The Flatt, Carlisle.
Heifers peaked at £2460 for a 20 month old Limousin cross from Messrs Lawson, Roe Farm, Carlisle and to £2370 for two Hereford crosses from Messrs Smith, Campingholm Gretna. Best Charolais crosses were sold by Messrs Story, Blackrigg at £2320.
Dairy bred cattle sold to £2240 for a Montbeliarde steer from Greenwrae, Gretna. £2180 went to a Montbelairde cross heifer from Messrs Routledge, Brackenhill Rigg, Carlisle, £2170 for Holstein Friesian heifers from Messrs Miller, Tarn Lodge, Brampton. Fleckviehs steers to £2160 from Messrs Park, Broom, Seascale and finally Holstein Friesian steers to £2060 from Messrs Crichton, Limekilns, Annan.
