Border & Lakeland Club Sale

Borderway, Rosehill, Carlisle, CA1 2RS

BORDER & LAKELAND CLUB SALE
WEDNESDAY 18TH FEBRUARY 2026

Cannon leads the way

Trade at the February Border & Lakeland fixture eased in line with the national milk price, and with a more selective ring of buyers the averages reflected the seasonal caution. A quality offering of North of England and Scottish consignments saw heifers level at £2373.51, a sound result in the current climate but back on the autumn highs.

Presiding over the pre-sale show was Jonathan Marrs, with sponsorship from Finance for Farms, and he tapped out his winner in Deerslet Davinci Belinda from the Cannon family.
By Davinci and from a G-Deruyter Altanitro dam, the six-week calved heifer combined balance and quality and went on to realise 3100gns when secured by Messrs Farish of Wigton.

The Cannons doubled up on the ribbons, lifting Reserve Champion with Willsbro Parker Amber 5890. The fresh-calved Fustsyn Parfect Parker daughter, backed by twelve generations of VG and EX breeding, drew plenty of ringside interest and matched the day’s joint top call at 3100gns to Messrs Caldwell, Maybole.
Their seven-strong consignment averaged a very respectable £2625, comfortably ahead of the sale mean.

A consistent run from the Wilson family’s Skirwith Hall draft saw seven heifers level at £2580. Leading the way was Stowbeck Redcarpet Alice, a February 2024-born heifer calved at two years old, by Stowbeck Redcarpet from a VG86 Melarry Fuel daughter, which sold at 2650gns to Messrs Forshaw, Longridge.

Close behind at 2600gns was Stowbeck Lambda Popdazzle, already yielding 37 litres, heading home with Messrs Coulthard, Carlisle.

The next dairy sale at Borderway takes place on Wednesday 4th March and features 250 dairy cattle comprising freshly calved cows and heifers, dry cows, in calf heifers and bulling heifers.  A catalogue for this sale can be viewed online at www.harrisonandhetherington.co.uk or can be ordered from the Pedigree Office 01228 406230
