Kirkby Stephen OTM & Cast Cows

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their sale of Cast & OTM Cattle on Monday when a good entry for the time of year and good weather of 32 cows were forward.

Topping the sale at £1800.90 was a 828kg British Blue bull which made 217.5p/kg from J Lancaster, Fell View, Sandford.

Messrs Lancaster also topped at 227.5p/kg for a 650kg British Blue bull which grossed a £1478.75.

Messrs Maughan, Ash Garth, Great Asby sold a 612kg British Blue cross cow to make 225.5p/kg adding up to £1380.06.

Cows topped at £1516.88 for a six year old Limousin cross cow from Messrs Taylor, Waterhouses, Asby.

Messrs Brass, Bridge End Farm, Soulby sold a Limousin cross cow to 209.5p/kg totalling £1330.33 with Mr P Brass, Bridge End Farm selling another Limousin cross cows to make 207.5p/kg and £1332.15.

Dairy cattle sold to £1236.43 for a 642kg Friesian Heifer which made 180.5p/kg from Messrs Beck, Townfoot, Longdale.

Trade was once again on fire for all classes of cows and OTMs here at Kirkby Stephen.

An unbelievable overall sale average of 161.47p/kg and £1100.06 per head was achieved!!

New buyers were around the ring and many more can be sold to strong premiums going forward here at Kirkby Stephen.
