Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart Held Their Weekly Sale of Prime Sheep on Tuesday Evening when 3,041 sheep where forward consisting of 2,422 Prime Hoggs and 619 Cast Sheep.

Topping the sale at £214 where a pair of 48kg Beltex cross hoggs from JoJo Andrews, Boscar Flats, York.

This home also topped at 543.6p/kg for a pen of eighteen 39kg which made £212, with a pen of nine 41kg making £209, a pen of twelve 40kg at £207.50 (518.8p/kg) a pen of sixteen 39kg at £206 (528.2p/kg) and a pen of eleven 40kg at £205 (512.5p/kg).

Messrs Elliot, Espland House, Penrith sold a pair of 75kg Texel cross hoggs to make £211, with this home also selling 60kg Hoggs to £205.

Messrs Hill & Wright, Doncaster sold 46kg Blue Texel cross hoggs to £208, with this home selling a pen of six 42kg at £206 and a pen of seven 39kg to make £203 (520.5p/kg).

Messrs Simpson, Highscale Farm, Wigglesworth sold a pen of seventeen 39kg at £207 (530.8p/kg) a pen of fifteen 38kg at £203 (534.2p/kg) a pen of fourteen 39kg at £207 (530.8p/kg) a pen of seventeen 39kg at £206 (528.2p/kg).

Messrs Dent, Elm House, Bolton sold a pen of eight 40kg at £207 (517.5p/kg) with a pen of fifteen 41kg making £204.

Messrs Wills, Fawcett Park Farm, Dufton sold a pen of six 40kg to make £205 (512.5p/kg).

Quality well fleshed heavy hoggs where good to sell with Messrs Birkbeck, Castle Hill, Soulby selling 52kg Texel cross hoggs to £201.

Messrs Smith, Kelmore Hill Farm, Workington sold a pair of 68kg Suffolk cross hoggs to make £197, with 59kg making £188, and a pen of 56kg Suffolks making £181 all from this home.

Which also sold a pen of five 62kg Texel cross hoggs to make £196.

Messrs Patchett, West Summersides, Ripon sold a pen of twenty 55kg Texel cross Mule Hoggs to make £176 (320p/kg).

Mule Hoggs sold to £165 for a pen of 56kg from Messrs Hodgson, Green Farm, Shap.

Messrs Deighton, Orchard Farm, Bleatarn sold a pen of nine 47kg Mule hoggs to make £161 (342.6p/kg).

Messrs Allison, Windygate, Winton sold a pen of eleven 47kg Mules to make £154.50.

Hayllar Farms, Brough sold a pen of thirty eight 46kg Mules to make £153 (332.6p/kg).

Swaledale hoggs topped at £154 for 51kg from Messrs Bell, The Park Wall, Nateby.

Messrs Akrigg, Manor House Farm, Skipton sold a pen of fifteen 50kg Swaledales to make £150.

Messrs Tunstall, Prospect House, Winton sold a pen of ten 38kg Swaledale hoggs to make £125.50 (330.3p/kg).

Messrs Atkinson, Low Faggergill Cottage, Richmond sold a pen of seventeen 38kg Swaledale hoggs to make £122.50 (323.7p/kg).

Messrs Lawson, Pasture House Farm, Wigton sold a pen of 36kg Swaledales to make £119 (330.6p/kg).

Another flying trade for all classes and weights of hoggs was achieved here at Kirkby Stephen once again, with an SQQ average of 385.5p/kg and an overall average of 358p/kg and £160.80 with over 800 horned and Mule hoggs included in this average!
