Borderway Store Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 4^th March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store cattle. Numbers were tighter again this week, seeing demand growing even stronger with the days overall average of £2071.04. This sees an increase of £54.10 on the week. Very heavy and fitter cattle still selling well but the longer keep cattle were an unbelievable trade for all qualities.

 

Topping our sale today were regular consignor Messrs Crichton, Limekilns Farm, Annon with an Aberdeen Angus steer at £2640. The best Limousin sold to £2520 from Messrs Beattie, Shield Green, Carlisle. Younger Charolais sold to £2400 from Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas. Smaller lighter Friesians to £1750 from Messrs Roddam, Fordlands and light Holsteins to £1740 from Messrs Litt, Greengill, Wigton.

 

Heifers peaked at £2380 twice, firstly for a Charolais cross from Messrs Udale, Sidewaybank, Penrith and secondly from Messrs Moffat, Kirtlebank, Gretna for a dairy bred British Blue.
