Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 4^th March Harrison & Hetherington conducted their sale of weaned bulls and stirks in Borderway. A total of 282 where forward which averaged £1550.36. another strong show of bulls were forward with a total of 117 forward. Topping the bulls went on to Messrs McKie, High Threave selling a single to £2420. Simmental bulls topped at £2230 from Herries Farm for a strong pair. Shorthorn bulls topped at £2080 from Martin Barker, Appleby. Charolais bulls topped at £1690 from Chris Timm, Pickering. The same home topped the Aberdeen Angus section at £1790.

A simply magnificent show of steers were forward with a section average £1607. Topping was Mr Mckie, High Threave selling to £2260. Mr William Laird, Unity Farm sold two steers to £2100 and £2000. Charolais steers topped at £1860 from Messrs Thornton, Millom. Angus steers topped at £1740 for a pair from Messrs Dixon, Hedley East Farm. Holstien Friesian steers topped at £1640 from Messrs Jefferson, High Pow.

Heifers topped at £2340 from Mr Pattinson, Bonshawside for a pure heifer. The same home sold to £2320 and £2160. Messrs Gaitskell, High Field sold 4 strong British Blue to £1910. Charolais topped at £1720 from Messrs Dale-Sunley, Ross Farm.

The next sale of weaned cattle at Borderway will be the ‘March Stampede’ show & Sale on Wednesday 18^th March.
