On Monday 9th March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store lambs and breeding sheep at Borderway Mart. Another strong showing of store lambs were forward to average £114.20. Topping went to Messrs Mair, Hill Farm, selling five Texels to £145. Messrs Anderson, Barnakill brought Texel lambs to average £143. A pen of 32 mule lambs made £136 from Messrs Wallace, Macherquhat. Herdwicks topped at £121 from Messrs Higginson, Brampton. Ewes and lambs continue to grow in demand with a sale average of £118 being achieved. Topping went to Messrs Gilhespy, Tedcastle selling a Texel ewe with flashy Texel lambs to £160 per life. The same home sold Roussins ewes with twins to £138 and mules to £128. Suffolks topped at £136 from Messrs Skelton, Waterloo for a three shear with twins. Many more needed to satisfy demand.
